We often need to do some renovating in our lives when the old version is not satisfying us anymore and the new is vaguely prompting its way.

RENOVATING
Sometimes you have a vision of something but the rest what is about to come is not quite clear yet.
Surprises in renovation
This was the case with me last summer when I started renovating my summerhouse. I had an extension of the roof built to the L-shaped house there so that it formed a huge, covered space to create a terrace later. I was so proud of myself and happy with the idea!
And – when ready, I almost burst into tears, when entring the kitchen (which was in the corner of the L) and noticed, that this pretty roof had blocked all the sun-light.
So it was a big and unexpected surprise to me in this renovation proocess which I really didn’t expect to happen.
„You should build a new house then,“ told a friend, meaning that when you have decided to do renovation in an old house there is always something you have to compromise with. So if I wanted this terrace with a solid roof, not a plastic and transparent one which would probably not have endured the heavy climate of autumn and winter for long, I have to take it with all there is, including the light being blocked to kitchen.
Look at the Bright Side of Renovation
To tell you the truth, when planning it, I actually didn’t realize it might block the light nor did I consider any other options as a terrace roof.
It was only later that I saw somewhere a plastic roof and started to talk myself into believing that the grapes are sour – the renovation of my roof is done already and it is perfect just the way it is.
Only then can you realize that it is actually not important, if you execute something in a certain way or a little bit in a differently.
It is all about teaching yourself the trust and belief that your higher wisdom with the right decisions is always there.
It is guiding you exactly where you should be, showing you exactly what you should see and teaching you the lessons you should learn.
Whether you argue with reality and allow dissatisfaction and guilt overwhelm you or you accept it as it is and see new possibilities opening up, is always up to you.
It is only you who can turn things seeming initially as „bad“ into „good“ ones and open your eyes to what can only be revealed when you let go of blaming yourself.
Satisfaction of renovation
And now it is only amazing how sitting on a sofa in my new terrace, listening to the rain drumming on this brand-new ceiling, or watching the evening-sun, beaming its rays under the large and solid roof, keeping me nicely in shade, can evoke creativity in me.
But this satisfaction can only be revealed, when you let go of blaming yourself in the first place and of all the conceptions of how things should be. Then you realize they actually already are exactly the way they should be.
Is there also something to do about renovating oneself when travelling in Egypt and falling in love with a local handsome guy who claims to be a soulmate from past lives? Well, you can decide for yourself when reading my small e-book „I Fell in Love With an Alfonso.“
Here is an extract of my small e-book “I Fell in Love With an Alfonso” and a link to the book.
Among other things, this is definitely a story about renovating.
